What a ride, Richie.
In some communities, there are community gardens coming back and I think that helps. Access to fresh produce in addition to whatever else is being served is always a good thing. But you’re right, when it comes to food, those who are poor even, it’s about convenience. If you’ve worked a 12 hour shift and must come home to feed yourself and your family, you’re not wanting to cook a time intensive dish. You also want to make something you know your family will eat.
It’s something that will take time. When your family has eaten nothing but pasta from a box (hamburger helper) and grease laden foods for so long, they are going to balk at healthy plant based nutrition. And folks like myself can’t afford to waste food.
I think you did a wonderful thing and it’s the beginning of something wonderful.
Thanks for sharing.
