Actually, you can claim the income if you do it right. I owned a ‘modeling agency’ and eventually had it incorporated as well (not necessary but it felt like a good idea)

I paid taxes on my income. I kept track of all cash received and made sure I handled everything above board.

As for future employers, same thing. I owned my own business so no gaps in employment.

I know not everyone can do it this way or would even think to. I just happen to have a pretty decent education and a head on my shoulders (most of the time!)
