I believe wholeheartedly a lot of it is about money. The more medication they can convince you to take, the more tests and appointments, the more money in a lot of people’s pockets.

I can also tell you, it all depends on your insurance, too.

The insurance I have makes it difficult for doctors to get paid without jumping through hoops and explaining themselves. Apparently, they don’t like to do that. So I don’t hear as many recommendations for testing, etc as you have.

What I do hear is my weight is the sole reason I have any health problem ever. I’m sure the fact that I’m legally blind in both eyes (and have been since I was a teen) is because I’m fat.

I have fibromyalgia and am in constant pain. I exercise when and how I can, low impact because it’s fucking painful. I get so tired of hearing how if I just lost weight it would be better.

No, it fucking wouldn’t. I have lost weight. Two years ago, I was 60 pounds lighter than I am now. And guess what? I was still in constant pain. Actually, I was in more pain because I wasn’t taking any medication. I stopped, because it caused me to gain so much weight.

So I can either be in a little less pain by taking my medication, and gain weight. Or I can stop the medication, so I can lose weight, and still be in pain.

Tell me how any of that is helpful?

Thank you for sharing this wifey. More people need to understand what people go through.
