Honestly, the conversation probably needs to happen even earlier than 12 or 13. Obviously, each conversation should be tailored to the child and their level of development.

Children do what feels good. I’ve seen my children as young as 2 years old touching themselves (boys). Can’t have a conversation about sex at that age, but I could tell them to do that in their room lol Little boys will put their hands in their pants pretty much anywhere.

I honestly don’t remember ever being caught as a child, but I also don’t remember masturbating as a child either. I believe I blocked it from my memory. Pretty sure there’s a fucked up memory attached to it. I don’t recall doing anything with myself until I was in my early teens. And I have now created a writing prompt for myself today!
