Biography

My name is Demeter DeLune and I’ve been writing stories my entire life. Welcome to my page. I hope you find at least one story you can connect with. About a year ago, I began this journey on Medium, sharing my deepest, darkest secrets in story form and sexual education pieces.

In this life, I’ve been a Professional Dominatrix, a phone sex operator, an insurance agent, a chemist, and a counselor.

Now, I’m a freelance writer, editor, and sex educator.

Writing under a pseudonym has its advantages. This is a place I can express myself, tell stories, share erotica, or…

The ladies shouldn’t have all the fun when it comes to enhancements!

Around 32,000 years ago, siltstone dildos were used as a sex toy, making them the world’s oldest known sex toys. Rumor has it, Cleopatra was known for pleasuring herself with a papyrus box full of live bees, around 51 BC. First vibrator? French and Spanish sailors took rubber sleeves out to sea with them; they called them “Ladies of the Journey”, making them the first known male-specific sex toys. 1

Love them or hate them, sex toys are here to stay. Considering they’ve been around for centuries, you’d think we’d be used to them by now. Yet surprisingly, the topic…

As children, we’re shown our personal pleasure is something to be ashamed of, and it follows us into adulthood.

When we’re young we learn fairly quickly, if it feels good, do it. We don’t have many boundaries surrounding this epithet. I may not remember a ton about my early sexual exploration, but as the mother of boys, I can verify that once they find their penis, all bets are off. They’re going to touch it whenever they can, happily, until someone tells them it’s not okay.

But, it is okay, in the right setting. One thing I’ve taught all my boys is, it’s yours, you can touch it if you want, but you can’t do it in the living…

Almost all of the original self-help books for couples were written by proponents of the eugenics movement.

Eugenics is the set of beliefs and practices which aims at improving the genetic quality of the human population. It’s played a significant role in the history and culture of the United States, especially during the Progressive Era, from the late 19th century until US involvement in World War II. The concept predates the term; Plato suggested applying the principles of selective breeding to humans around 400 BC. Early advocates of eugenics in the 19th century regarded it as a way of improving groups of people. …

Selfishness excludes others, while self-care does not.

Although most of us know the saying, “You can’t pour from an empty cup”, many of us who find ourselves dealing with that exact issue find it difficult to put our needs first. When we’ve given all we have to everyone else, the question of whether self care is selfish or necessary still haunts us. Society loves to tell us that to practice self-care is unacceptable, because it sends the message, “my well-being is my only priority.”

This couldn’t be more damaging.

Focusing on your emotional, mental, and spiritual stability doesn’t take away from others. There’s a difference between being…

Giving myself permission to be in control, when I want to be, has changed everything.

Having been a Professional Dominatrix, you would think I’m used to being in control in the bedroom. But you’d be mistaken. I’m a true switch, who leans more towards submission than domination. Being a Dominatrix was work. That’s not to say I didn’t enjoy it, but it was like putting on a uniform that I could take off once my day was finished.

Outside of work, in my romantic relationships, I leaned a lot more towards being submissive in bed. I like being dominated, by the right person, but didn’t even feel the need for that on a consistent basis…

Three years after the #MeToo movement exploded, there are still stories to tell.

On October 15, 2017, Alyssa Milano sent out a tweet with the hashtag, #MeToo that sparked a movement that was founded in 2006. Founder, Tarana Burke asked, “When your life is forever changed by sexual violence, where can you turn? Who can help you? What are the words you need to hear most?” It was her vision to provide resources, support, and pathways to healing that were not available. But in 2017, Milano’s use of the hashtag, and the viral use after, woke up the world to the magnitude of the problem.

I remember seeing a screenshot on Facebook the…

My favorite picks for the best sex toys for everyone.

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. Partnered, or not, you can always treat yourself to something new and exciting! Personally, I love getting sex toys as a gift. Not only are they fun, but usually, they’re something I can use alone or with my husband. Win/win. When I began this list, I was thinking of experienced sex toy users. However, recent conversations with friends have taught me, there are still a number of ladies and gentlemen out there who have either never used sex toys, or haven’t had much experience with them.

So I decided to use my own…

Not all dildos are created equally.

I’m a sex toy connoisseur. By that, I don’t mean I require the most expensive, newest thing on the market today, more that I just really love sex toys and want to try them all! I’m lucky that I have a good relationship with a few companies out there who kindly provide toys to me, in exchange for honest reviews. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t times I want to purchase my own.

Since I’ve been reviewing sex toys, I’ve learned how to research exactly what I want. Lately, my husband and I have been diving into the world of…

Cicely Tyson spent her entire career shattering racial stereotypes.

Cicely Tyson, the stage, screen and television actress whose vivid portrayals of strong African-American women shattered racial stereotypes in the dramatic arts of the 1970s, propelling her to stardom and fame as an exemplar for civil rights, died on Thursday. She was 96.

Ms. Tyson is someone I’ve watched carefully most of my life. I remember seeing her in Roots, when I was very young, and even then thinking to myself, this lady has class. I don’t recall when I first learned of her insistence that Black characters she was to portray have dignity, and not just be cast as…
